MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Alabama State coach Brian Jenkins and assistant coach James Joseph have been suspended for one game because of an NCAA violation.The university said Friday that the suspension stemmed from a level-three NCAA infraction committed in 2015. A member of Jenkins staff made written offers to two recruits before Aug. 1 of their senior years.NCAA rules require a one-game suspension from all coaching-related activities for such violations. Jenkins will sit out Saturday against Mississippi Valley State. Joseph will miss an unspecified later game.Jenkins says the violation was an honest mistake by one of the assistant coaches.
