Glasgow got back on track in the Guinness PRO12 after overcoming a determined Newport Gwent Dragons side 26-17 at Rodney Parade. The Scots took the spoils in Newport thanks to tries by front-row forwards Corey Flynn and Alex Allan but had to repel a spirited comeback from the hosts. The Dragons trailed 16-3 at the break but fired back through prop Sam Hobbs and centre Jack Dixon only for the key score to come through Allan with half an hour left. Both teams went into the game seeking to avoid a hat-trick of defeats, the Dragons having lost to Munster and Treviso while the Warriors had been beaten by the unbeaten pair of Cardiff Blues and Ulster. They do, however, operate at opposite ends of the table, with the hosts looking for a big scalp and Glasgow needing to get their title tilt back on course.Glasgow had the better of the opening exchanges but had to settle for a pair of Finn Russell penalties. However, they took command on the half hour when a driving lineout ended with former All Black Flynn peeling off and powering over. The Dragons were given an opening when Glasgow flanker Fraser Brown was yellow-carded for a dangerous tackle with Nick Macleod getting the hosts on the scoreboard. However, they allowed Russell to swiftly respond for the visitors and it was the Warriors who ended the half on the front foot before settling for a 16-3 lead. The Dragons desperately needed a fast start to the second half and they got just that to lead 17-16 with 49 minutes gone.First Hobbs powered over from close range and then a turnover ended with Dixon finishing superbly in the left corner.Macleods pair of conversions meant that the Warriors were behind and in need of a response, which they got through the unlikely source of prop Allan after he showed neat footwork to dance over from 20 metres for a score that Russell converted. At 23-17 it was still very much game on as the hour passed with the Warriors defending stoutly to retain their slender advantage. However, they secured victory with just over a minute left through the right boot of Russell with his penalty also denying the Dragons a deserved losing bonus point. The all-rounder suffered an extremely unlucky injury towards the end of last season, dislocating his thumb just hours after receiving a call to the England squad for their series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.Ansari was forced to withdraw from that squad, and his recovery over the winter was slowed by a second operation, meaning he will not quite be ready for Sundays opening Division One clash with Nottinghamshire. Surrey bowler Zafar Ansari says he and his team-mates are excited for the new County Championship season But the 24-year-old hopes still to be a major contributor with bat and ball as Surrey bid to follow up their Division Two title success with a good first year back in the top flight. The first few weeks and months were tough when you saw what you were missing out on, Ansari told Sky Sports News HQ when asked how frustrating his injury had been.I think after that yyou get used to the winter being something that has gone and you look forward to the new season.dddddddddddd Ansari suffered a dislocated thumb on the same day as his call up and spent the winter recuperating There has been little hiccups in the process [of getting fit] but I am hopefully not going to miss too much cricket - maybe a game - and thats really exciting.Im starting to hit balls again, Im starting to bowl properly and I am just getting back into cricket normally. Sunday might have come a bit too soon but there is a decent chance for our second game, here at The Oval [against Somerset from April 24].England have a busy summer with Test, one-day and Twenty20 matches against Sri Lanka and Pakistan on the schedule, and Ansari hopes he can do enough to catch the selectors eye again. Ansaris form was good enough to see him called up by England To know that you are there or thereabouts is a start. England have been good with me, they have kept in touch. [Spin bowling coach] Peter Such has been in throughout the winter working with me whenever its been possible, so I do feel part of it, he added. At the same time if you do miss out on six months of cricket, you know you are going down the pecking order and going to have to work hard to get back to where you were. Its going to be a decent climb to get back there but you dont feel miles away.
